Document store interfaces

To get an instance of the Document store, call instance(key) on your defined Document store object.

Interfaces

property currentDocument

Returns the currently edited but unsaved document as a javascript object if one exists. Else returns the last committed version of the document or if one doesn’t exist, a blank document.

property currentDocumentIsEdited

Returns a boolean which is true if the current document has outstanding uncommitted edits.

property currentDocumentIsComplete

Returns a boolean which is true if the current document is completed, eg: the required fields are filled in and the document validates.

function setCurrentDocument(document, isComplete)

Sets the current (uncomitted) document to document, using isComplete to define the completed/incompleted status of the current document.

property lastCommittedDocument

Returns the javascript object of the last committed version of the document, or if one doesn’t exist, a blank document.

property hasCommittedDocument

Returns a boolean which is true if there is any saved version of the document.

property history

Return an array of objects containing data about all the versions of the document stored for this instance of the document store.

The objects in the array have the properties:

Property Description
version The numeric version of the document
date The date this version was committed
user The user that committed this version
document The document as a javascript object

function commit(user)

Saves/commits the currentDocument as the latest version. If there is no edited version then commit() will use the lastCommittedDocument as the document to commit.

function deferredRenderLastCommittedDocument()

Return a deferred render for the last committed document.

property lastCommittedDocumentHTML

The HTML for the last committed document. Use deferredRenderLastCommittedDocument() instead.

function deferredRenderCurrentDocument()

Return a deferred render for the current, potentially edited, version of the document.

property currentDocumentHTML

The HTML for the current document. Use deferredRenderCurrentDocument() instead.

function handleEditDocument(E, actions)

Handles the editing of a document instance, for example in a request handler where the user has submitted changes to some forms.

E is the request object and is required.

actions is an object containing hooks to be executed to customise functionality of the editor.

Property Description
finishEditing A function called with the arguments instance, E, complete when the user submits edits to the form. Should end with E.response.redirect() to redirect the user to the desired location.
gotoPage A function called with the arguments instance, E, formId when the user clicks to go to another page in the store. Should end with E.response.redirect() to redirect the user to the desired location.
render A function called with the arguments instance, E, deferredRender that should render the page by calling E.render()

The arguments mentioned above are:

Argument Description
instance The document store instance
E The Exchange object
complete Boolean. if the form passes validation and is completed
formId String. Id of the form the user is going to
deferredRender Deferred render. The Deferred render object of the form to be displayed to be included in a HSVT template

For example:

P.respond("GET,POST", "/do/example-plugin/edit-form", [
    {pathElement:0, as:"workUnit", workType:"example_workunit"}
], function(E, workUnit) {
    var key = workUnit.id;
    var instance = P.exampleDocStore.instance(key);
    instance.handleEditDocument(E, {
        finishEditing: function(instance, E, complete) {
            if(complete) {
                // ...
            }
        },
        gotoPage: function(instance, E, formId) {
            E.response.redirect("/do/example-plugin/edit-form/"+
                instance.key.workUnit.id+
                "/application?form="+formId);
        },
        render: function(instance, E, html) {
            E.render({
                // ...
            });
        }
    });
});

function makeViewerUI(E, options)

Constructs and returns a DocumentViewer object which can be used to display UI for your document store and forms in your plugin.

For options see DocumentViewer options.
